HOUSEHOLDERS INDEX FOR LIMERICK
The
“Householders Index” is an index only to two early records of
Ireland – the Griffith’s (or Primary) Valuation of 1847-64, and the Tithe
Applotment, conducted between 1823-37. The former attempted to measure all
resident households, whether owners, renters, or boarders. The latter was an
attempt to record all agricultural landowners only.
In
the following table, all Mulvihills (and variants*) recorded in County Limerick
are displayed.

G
specifies an entry in Griffith’s; T in Tithe Applotment; the numeral specifies
the number of households recorded.
Note
that “Parish” means Civil or Church of Ireland Parish for the purpose of these
surveys.
Note
also that many Civil Parishes crossed PLU and Barony lines.
*Mulvihill
variants observed in the record were Mulvihill, Mulvihell, Mulvehill, and
Mulvahill.
