MULVIHILL’S
REEL

Mulvihill, who was himself a native of Glin, Mulvihill’s Reel is
performed here by De Dannan
Martin Mulvihill was born 1929 in Ballygoughin, Glin Parish, Limerick. Hailed
as perhaps the greatest fiddler of his time, Martin was also an accomplished
composer and a renowned teacher. He moved with his family to New York in 1965.
He died during a return visit to his birthplace in the 1990’s.
De Dannan are one of the most famous traditional Irish
groups of the recent past. It features the fiddle of Frankie Gavin.
The Reel is played against a backdrop of the Limerick tartan.
